Crickets & Cicadas
The NJ/PA region’s own Grateful Dead and Jerry Garcia Band collective steps out of the breweries and onto a historic theater stage for the first time.
Deep Cuts, Big Jams, No Repeats
Based in the New Jersey and Pennsylvania region, Crickets & Cicadas have earned a strong reputation across the tri-state jam scene by digging deep into the Grateful Dead and Jerry Garcia Band catalogs and letting the songs stretch out into long, exploratory jams.
After years of building a following at local breweries, clubs and dispensaries, the November 20 show at Hammonton’s Eagle Theatre marks a milestone: their first-ever headlining theater performance.

Music Plays the Band
Bands like Crickets & Cicadas are the reason the music never stopped. Music Plays the Band is our weekly celebration of them: live recordings from the Grateful Dead tribute and cover bands keeping the songbook alive, from national touring acts to the local heroes playing your neighborhood brewery.
The Dead built their legend on improvisation, an eclectic sound and one of the most devoted fan communities in music history. With the band’s core members now gone, that spirit lives on night after night through the musicians who learned these songs by heart and still take them somewhere new. Tune in every Wednesday night and hear it for yourself.
